Meet Laura Gandy, BS, MA     (She/Her)

Laura is taking a maternity leave from July 2022-July 2023 to care for herself, baby, and family.

Just as we work with clients to build the insight and courage to make their own best decisions, we’re delighted to support Laura as she makes choices for herself – knowing that she is worthy of time, space, and nurture. We additionally know that she becomes a better therapist for others when she takes care of herself through each season of life. (We will look to start to take referrals for clients to see Laura in May-July 2023.)

I understand that life can be challenging. Using evidence-based and client-focused therapies, my passion is to help you feel empowered and find clarity to know how to move forward and through those challenges. I believe sharing your story with someone is an incredibly brave thing to do, and I do not take it lightly. I am hopeful that together, you will be able to feel whole and worthy to live freely again.

Interested in working with both adults and teens, I am interested in helping clients address anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, high levels of stress, postpartum mental health, dynamics of third culture experience, and difficulty adjusting to various life situation and stages.

Additionally, I love engaging with Third Culture Kids and Adult TCKs. Being one myself, I have a deep understanding and connection to the TCK experience. It can be difficult to express your experience to your family and those around you, especially if your experiences left you with grief or trauma. I extend to you a safe place to process your experience.

I also love working with Mothers. Maternal mental health is too often overlooked in our culture and medical systems. As a mother myself, I understand that caring for your child is your top priority, but you are also worthy of advocacy. I hope we can grow in strength and purpose together as you navigate the complexities of motherhood.

I draw from the following theories in my work with clients: EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, Strength Based, and Motivational Interviewing.

    • Professional Counselor in PA with a MA in Counseling – Mental Health Therapy
    • Trained in EMDR (EMDRIA Approved Training) – Specialized Trauma Treatment
    • LPC Candidate, under the supervision of Rochelle Matthews Stoltzfus, MA, LPC, CDWF

A NOTE from Rochelle Matthews Stoltzfus, Clinical Director:

Laura completed her year long MA level internship at In Process Counseling and I cannot express how excited I was to have her continue in her work with clients. Laura’s commitment to offer quality therapy, hold compassionate space for her clients, and continue to learn is clear. Laura is fully trained in EMDR and ready to help individuals work through difficult history with this evidence-based theory.
