Meet Rella Miller, MSS, LCSW, Certified in EMDR (She/Her)

MENTAL HEALTH & EMDR CERTIFIED THERAPIST

To me, therapy is an active choice of courage made when we are ready to learn, heal, change, and/or grow. Although this process can feel quite vulnerable and uncomfortable at times, I have seen it time and again lead to wonderful discoveries and surprises, shifts in the way we see ourselves in this world, and places of growth and healing. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space full of compassion, presence, authenticity, and curiosity for those ready to embark on this beautiful journey. Together, we identify your unique set of values and strengths and use these as a guidepost to move through obstacles, and towards visions for the future. These strengths and values will also help us to create a toolbox of strategies that are right for you, leading to empowerment, clarity, freedom, and fulfillment.

In the many years that I’ve been practicing as a therapist, forming a strong therapeutic connection is what I and my clients have valued most and find to be the foundation that leads to the capacity for healing and growth. I strive to help my clients build skills in areas such as healthy communication, boundary setting, self-compassion, mindfulness, creativity and emotion regulation. In addition to working with those experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and general life adjustments, some of my special areas of interest include social anxiety, maternal mental health, challenges with executive functioning, as well as low self-esteem. I also have a passion for working with young adults, the LBGTQIA+ community, and helping professionals. I enjoy working with individuals who want to improve their relationships with food and movement and am a strong supporter of intuitive eating and Health at Every Size (HAES). (Please note: While I work well with individuals dealing with difficulties in their relationship with food, I am not the best choice for clients dealing with moderate to severe eating disorders).

Because of the individuality of each person, I find it important to draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities to best inform and support my work with clients. These mainly include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered/Humanistic, and Person-In-Environment. Additionally, I’ve found integrating techniques from Internal Family Systems very valuable in working with clients.
